Reach Higher
Many of us have experienced a “runner’s high”; that feeling of lightness, tingling and optimism that randomly arrives during a run. Did you know you may be able to trigger it? Unfortunately, you must be able to run at least an hour (a new goal anyone?). It doesn’t necessarily work for everyone, and the cause is not even 100% known. My favorite theory is that your body makes a flight response to use up its last readily accessible fuel. Don’t worry, you have other stores.
Try it! Start with good nutrition, hydration, etc. Run your planned workout and then somewhere in the 6-10 mile range, do a quarter-mile to half-mile of increased speed. Think of your 5k pace. Chills, smile, invincible? That’s it.
If you’re ready, add this to a workout and let me know if you found it.
